Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician

Opportunity The primary function of a Maintenance Technician – Assembly is the safe day‑to‑day preventive and emergency/unscheduled maintenance of various assembly, injection molding, and other machinery. The technician will help oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery and reports to the Production Supervisor – Assembly or the Plant Manager in the supervisor’s absence. Salary: $28–$32/hr. Schedule: Monday–Friday 10am‑7pm, overtime and weekends as needed. Responsibilities Perform all work in accordance with the highest standards of Smurfit WestRock‑Vitop safety policies, ensuring safety policies and processes are enforced. Successfully complete all essential training. Daily cleaning of equipment and perform rebuilds of parts, maintaining an adequate stock. Check equipment for proper functionality and complete daily testing, filling documentation. Check inventory parts and submit weekly inventory reports. Support other departments on maintenance duties. Inspect supply equipment for proper machine function, change fluids, parts, and filters. Clean and maintain equipment. Evaluate and identify equipment issues and repair needs. Test equipment for proper OEM specification. Complete preventive maintenance logs. Act as a rigger and/or crane operator for moving, installing, and transporting heavy machinery. Interpret blueprints and schematics. Interface with vendors and suppliers as necessary to discuss products used in repair work or projects. Adhere to lock‑out/tag‑out policy and procedures. Work with all departments to meet daily tasks. Learn local and company requirements, rules, and procedures and strictly follow them. Report incidents, near‑misses, and unsafe conditions promptly. May be assigned to other projects and duties. Qualifications 3+ years of industrial maintenance mechanic experience, including diagnosing, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures. 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment, knowledge of electrical circuits, and an understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics preferred. High school education or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekend assignments. Ability to work in a team environment and rotate jobs or shifts as needed. Experience with basic hand tools. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Extensive knowledge of OSHA requirements and lockout/tag‑out procedures. Strong knowledge of Safety, 5S, LEAN/TPS Toyota Production System is an advantage. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently exert physical force.
