Speech Language Pathologist- Speech and Hearing, PRN, First

Job Description

Speech Language Pathologist, First Shift, Speech and Hearing Department. The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates, plans and implements Speech-Language Pathology treatment programs for referred patients. Performs overall daily operational tasks of Speech-Language Pathology service within the department. Shows respect and courtesy to all staff, patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
• Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
• Evaluates patients using appropriate therapeutic media.
• Develops individualized treatment programs consistent with patient's diagnosis, status and goals.
• Documents patient evaluation, status, progress and discharge per approved procedures.
• Implements the treatment plan in collaboration with the treatment team.
• Monitors patient's response and modifies plan as needed.
• Represents the hospital/department at community speech, Speech and Hearing Director and Graduate Students Practicum Advisory Board Meetings.
• Contributes to the clinical and academic education of medical students, residents, and undergraduate Speech Language Pathology students and students within the College of Allied Health.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited graduate school-Required
• Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by ASHA or working towards certification, and Licensure by the State of Ohio- Required
• Completion of clinical fellowship year preferred, but not required.
