Estimating Manager

Summary The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the overall management of the bid process for a project. The role is responsible for understanding the deliverables, developing a work plan, and identifying resources required, while coordinating with internal teams to ensure compliance with the Request for Proposals (RFP). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or related field, or equivalent relevant experience At least five (5) years’ experience in estimating for commercial construction Experience leading bids and trade coordination Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction management, including safety, quality, constructability and sustainability standards Leadership level communication and organization skills Responsibilities Leads bid / GMP assembly with minimal guidance; manages all bid day activities including compiling all deliverables and submitting responses Prepares detailed estimates at all phases of design; proficient in divisions 3 – 16 (including division 2 for Base Building) Leads and coordinates scope writing and qualification development; manages and coordinates divisions 2, 15, 16 Leads constructability reviews; leads the development of specific systems analyses and creation of Value Engineering and Alternates lists / logs Assists with strategy development for GMP’s and competitive bids Participates in project meetings and client presentations; attends pre-bid meetings and lead trade partner walk-throughs; leads bid presentations Owns responsibility for overall trade partners / supplier coverage and effective communication and management; identifies and aligns the most qualified trade partners for the market sector and scope Manages the overall document distribution process (RFI’s, Addenda, etc.) Counsels, educates and coaches staff to help them develop necessary job skills Builds relationships with trade partners / suppliers, clients and design teams Core Competencies For The Role Autonomy + Accountability Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from managers Typically does not perform the work supervised Accountable for work of others Business Impact Impacts own team, adjacent teams, and teams company-wide Decisions are made without oversight and affect the success of the department / revenue group Guides, influences and persuades others either internally in other project / departments or externally Contributes to strategic market sector / department business development planning Talent Development May have formal management responsibilities Provides feedback to team members Adapts plans and priorities to meet project / department / company goals Creates opportunities for growth and development of team members Problem Solving + Resiliency Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information Salary and Benefits Base salary range: $105,000.00 – $135,000.00.
