Position Summary

Cornerstone Community Bank is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented bank teller to join our team. Our tellers will be the most frequent point of contact with our customers. The ideal candidate would be someone who enjoys working together with a team, an individual who can bring a positive attitude to every interaction and who understands that precision is vital to a bank’s safety and soundness. The candidate should have a passion for helping others, strong communication skills, and a commitment to building lasting relationships within our community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service and Support

  • Greet customers warmly and professionally while providing prompt, courteous service in person, over the phone and via digital channels
  • Handle deposits, withdrawals, transfers and loan payments with a high degree of accuracy
  • Resolve customer inquiries, concerns and complaints in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain current knowledge of bank policies, procedures and compliance requirements
  • Participate in community events and initiatives to strengthen the Bank’s local presence
  • Efficiently utilize Jack Henry teller software to process transactions and research customer information in a timely manner
  • Identify and report suspicious activity or potential fraud to protect the bank and its customers
  • Maintain knowledge of banking products and services offered to help answer customer questions

Transaction Processing

  • Balance cash drawer daily and ensure all transactions comply with security and regulatory guidelines
  • Process a variety of banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, payments and transfers with accuracy
  • Maintain and balance the Bank’s main cash vault (or willingness to learn)
  • Ensure vault cash balances daily and investigate discrepancies
  • Identify customer needs and contribute to the Bank’s overall profitability by recommending appropriate banking products and services
  • Handle cashier checks, money orders and related negotiable instruments
  • Verify customer identification and ensure compliance with banking regulations
  • Attend occasional product and safety training for the bank

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Location Manager, VP

Works closely with: Relationship Banker, Location Manager, Lenders and Loan & Deposit Specialists

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required – preferably an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field
  • Previous teller or banking experience with 2-3 years of customer service experience, preferably in banking, financial services or retail

  • Strong mathematical and cash handling skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with computer systems and ability to learn banking software systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional Saturdays
  • A level of comfort in wearing multiple hats as we grow

Performance Expectations

  • Cash Accuracy — Cash drawer balanced with zero or minimal out-of-balance occurrences per month; transaction error rate at or below bank-defined threshold
  • Compliance Adherence — Zero CTR/BSA documentation errors; timely completion of all required compliance and safety training with no policy violations
  • Customer Service — Consistent delivery of professional, courteous service; customer complaints handled appropriately and escalated when needed
  • Transaction Productivity — Transactions processed accurately and within expected time standards; vault balancing completed on schedule
  • Professional Development — Completes all assigned training on time; demonstrates growth in product knowledge and actively participates in coaching sessions
