Clinical Lab Scientist 1, 3rd Shift, Hoxworth Blood Center, Division of Transplantation Immunology parental leave, paid time off, paid holidays, sick time, retirement plan Mar 17, 2026 Job Overview The Hoxworth Blood Center, Division of Transplantation Immunology seeks a motivated individual to conduct clinical laboratory testing. The position requires a full‑time (100% FTE) Clinical Lab Scientist 1 who has a background in immunology, is a critical thinker with excellent communication skills, and can work independently. Experience in flow cytometry and molecular DNA testing is ideal. The candidate will be trained on first shift, then assigned to the 3rd shift after training (Wednesday through Saturday, 10‑hour shifts, 7:00 pm‑5:30 am). Essential Functions Perform testing, interpret and record results. Perform quality control and proficiency testing. Comply with cGMP requirements in appropriate areas regarding test interpretation and validity of results. Communicate and report test results to external customers and internal stakeholders. Respond to other healthcare professionals’ questions regarding results. Clerically process incoming patient blood samples. Compose written case reports for hospital patient referrals, when appropriate. Prepare laboratory reagents. Develop and perform reagent evaluation studies and other special projects with supervisory review. Quarantine and discard blood products with positive test results, when appropriate. Maintain equipment and keep a clean, safe work area. Assume on‑call responsibilities as required. Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or other related biological science. Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of the education requirement. Required Trainings/Certifications Some labs require MLT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), BB(ASCP), or SBB(ASCP).
