We are looking for a Store Team Leader to build and lead our independently owned and locally operated Pet Supplies Plus store in Salisbury, NC.

Specifically, we are looking for someone who takes ownership and wants to excel in a long-term career.

This is not a "keep the lights on" management job. You will help build the store, hire the team, establish the culture, and ultimately own the day-to-day results. Compensation is structured to allow high performers to significantly increase their income as the store succeeds.

If you are an experienced retail leader, an Assistant Manager ready to run your own store, a military leader, or someone who simply has the drive and organizational ability to build something from the ground up, we want to talk to you.

Pre-Store Opening Duties

Before we open our doors, you will:

• Complete two weeks of paid operations training . Travel is required, and travel expenses will be covered.
• Help recruit, hire, train, and lead our opening team, including the Assistant Manager, Team Members, and Groomers.
• Help set up the store and get everything ready for opening day.
• Build the systems, routines, and standards that will make the store run well from Day One.

And Then There Are the Animals...

We believe caring for God's creatures is a serious responsibility.

Which is fortunate, because there will be a lot of them.

Fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, parakeets, reptiles, frogs, ferrets, and insects.

And yes. Even the snakes.

You must be an animal lover with a genuine passion for caring for and serving the animals in our store until they find their new family.

Animal care, safety, cleanliness, and security are not boxes to check. They are fundamental responsibilities of this job.

You will also help build relationships with local rescues, shelters, and community organizations. We plan to host cat adoptions in the store and become an active part of the local pet community.

Your Standard Duties

As Store Team Leader, you will:

• SERVE. Serve our neighbors. Serve the animals. Ideally, and hopefully, at a profit.
• Lead from the front. Do whatever the store needs to succeed, whether that means coaching an employee, solving a customer problem, managing from the office, or unloading a truck.
• Own the store's results, including sales, grooming, loyalty sign-ups, labor, scheduling, and customer experience.
• Coach, train, and develop the store team, including hiring and onboarding.
• Build schedules and manage labor to meet business needs and budget.
• Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, replenishment, pricing, and merchandising.
• Maintain accurate cash handling, POS, payroll, and basic bookkeeping processes.
• Ensure the store is clean, organized, safe, secure, and operating to company standards.
• Manage opening and closing procedures and daily shift operations.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• High-energy, people-oriented leader who is comfortable leading from the front and serving our neighbors and community.
• 2+ years of experience leading a retail team. Assistant Managers ready to run their own store are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to recruit, train, coach, and hold people accountable.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, using a pallet jack, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Flexible availability, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable transportation to and from the store. Travel for required training will be covered by the company.

Experience that will make you stand out:

• Pet industry experience
• New store opening experience
• Warehouse or inventory experience
• Grocery or other high-volume retail management
• Military leadership experience
• Experience with POS, payroll, inventory, or bookkeeping systems
• Bilingual or multilingual communication skills

You don't need to know everything on Day One. You do need to be willing to learn, solve problems, lead people, and take responsibility for the results.

What We Offer

Base Salary: $50,000 to $55,000, depending on experience.

Performance Bonus: Up to 10% of base salary annually, based on quarterly store performance and paid quarterly.

Profit Sharing: Once the store exceeds established sales and profitability targets, the Store Team Leader participates directly in store profits. There is no artificial ceiling on what a high-performing Store Team Leader can earn.

Target Earnings: $65,000–$80,000 annually at a high-performing, mature store, including performance bonus and anticipated profit sharing.

Growth: We plan to open additional locations. Store Team Leaders who demonstrate strong leadership and business results will have opportunities to grow with the company, including potential multi-store leadership roles.
