Lead Security Officer

Lead Security OfficerThe Security Department provides year-round coverage for Lumen Field, the Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater. In addition to fulfilling all Security Officer responsibilities, the Lead Security Officer provides first-line supervision and serves as the primary liaison between security officers and the security management team. This position, in addition to the duties of the security officer, will oversee and implement policies and procedures for the efficient and safe operation of Lumen Field, Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater; assist with developing internal training programs related to current industry standards for security best practices, assist with the development and maintenance of physical security measures and technology relevant to a professional sports venue and in compliance with the NFL Best Practices for Stadium Security. This is a full-time non-exempt position and at times will require work during evenings, weekends and holidays.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerform payroll functions for security personnel using Dayforce or other designated software systemPerform accounts payable activities (processing POs, credit card reconciliation, etc.)Supervise full and part-time security officers via the assignment of schedule placements and duties for that shift as appropriate for the eventBuild the work schedule of all full and part-time security officers, ensuring there is proper coverage to maintain the needed security related servicesEnsure all part-time security officers scheduled to work do not exceed an average of 30 hours per week, in compliance with the organization's HR policyBuild staffing and assignment grids for all special events, including participation in meetings with Security Department leadership and event managersAssist with security related activities as deemed appropriateMaintain excellent working relationships with all internal and external partnershipsAssist the Director of Security with the management of requests for vacation, sick leave and time away from the building, ensuring that there is adequate coverage to maintain security services at all timesMonitor and record employee performance. Participate in misconduct and other report investigations as necessary, as well as disciplinary decisions discussionsProvide direct supervision and assume overall shift responsibility during assigned work periods, ensuring personnel are effectively supervised, operational objectives are met and all security and safety protocols are consistently enforcedEnsure all incident reports, event reconciliation reports, and end-of-shift reports are completed accurately, thoroughly and within established timelines, and that all required documentation is submitted and maintained in accordance with departmental policyEnsure day-to-day operational decisions are made in accordance with established departmental policies, procedures, and directives and elevate matters through the chain of command when guidance, approval, or additional oversight is requiredParticipate in and lead the hiring and onboarding of part-time and event security personnel, ensuring all documented onboarding processes are followed and that newly assigned officers receive the training, guidance and mentorship necessary to perform their duties effectively on their assigned shiftPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsDemonstrated supervisory or leadership experience in a security, law enforcement, military, emergency services, venue operations or related fieldProven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanorExcellent judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information, with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all timesSelf-motivated with the ability to demonstrate initiative, exercise sound decision-making and work independently with minimal supervisionExceptional organizational, time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectivelyStrong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and other security, scheduling, reporting and access control software applicationsOutstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, guests, contractors, public safety partners and venue stakeholdersStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in reports, documentation and operational processesDemonstrated ability to remain calm and effective during emergencies, incidents and high-pressure situationsAbility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and special events as operational needs dictateStrong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to maintaining a safe, secure and customer-focused environmentMust be able to obtain Basic First Aid and CPR/AED certification within twelve (12) months of hireEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diplomaSome college education preferred; preference given to candidates with coursework or degrees in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, Public Safety or related fields of studyPrior supervisory or leadership experience in corporate security, venue security, military, law enforcement, emergency services or a closely related field requiredExperience leading teams in a dynamic, customer-service-oriented environment, including responsibility for personnel supervision, training, scheduling, performance management and operational decision-makingCorporate security, military or law enforcement experience strongly preferredExperience working in a stadium, arena, entertainment venue, critical infrastructure environment or other large public gathering facility is preferredWork Environment And Physical DemandsWill at times be exposed to varied weather conditionsDuring event days long periods of walking and standing are requiredRegularly required to use hands and fingers as well as walk long distancesRequired to reach with hands and armsRequired to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawlRequired to lift up to 30 poundsThe ability to focus, peripheral vision and close visionEmployee may be required to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends and holidaysCompensation And BenefitsThe hourly rate for this position is: $33.50The hourly range applies to the current posting.
