We also have developed a range of by-products for specialized applications across industry, construction and agriculture, which utilize Harsco's expertise in mineral materials.Job Description$29-$46 per hour based on experiencePosition SummaryThe Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of heavy mobile and stationary equipment used in a steel mill environment. This role supports mill operations by ensuring equipment reliability, operational safety, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. The Technician will work on large, off?road and industrial equipment under demanding conditions where safety, precision, and uptime are critical.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy industrial equipment including wheel loaders, dozers, excavators, cranes, locomotives, material handlers, and support equipmentInspect mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems to identify failures or performance issuesRepair or replace engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulic components, and electrical systems in accordance with OEM specificationsUtilize technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and service bulletins to perform accurate repairs and modificationsConduct equipment inspections and document maintenance activities in accordance with company proceduresWork safely in active steel?mill operations, including high?temperature zones, outdoor environments, and around mobile equipmentComply with Harsco Environmental, OSHA, MSHA (if applicable), and site?specific safety regulationsParticipate in safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs), and continuous improvement initiativesCollaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtimePerform welding, cutting, and fabrication repairs as required (preferred)QualificationsRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferredMinimum 3+ years of experience maintaining heavy equipment in an industrial, mining, steel?mill, or construction environmentStrong mechanical aptitude with hands?on experience in: diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical and electronic controls, drivetrains and braking systemsAbility to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast?paced industrial environmentProven commitment to workplace safety and hazard awarenessAbility to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation and OEM service proceduresWillingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as requiredPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs with or without accommodationTolerance for noise, dust, vibration, high heat, and industrial work conditionsAbility to climb ladders, work at heights, and work around moving equipmentPreferred QualificationsWelding and fabrication experienceExperience working within active steel?mill operationsFamiliarity with slag handling, materials handling, or rail?based industrial equipmentCertifications in heavy equipment repair, hydraulics, or electrical systemsAdditional InformationWe offer competitive benefits, including health insurance, life insurance and disability plans, as well as a 401k with company matching.Harsco is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
