Veterinarian - Locum

Job Summary Hourly rates starting at $120-$140 per hour. Provide preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment of pet diseases and injuries. Responsibilities Ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques and maintaining clean, sterile treatment areas. Collect patient history and keep comprehensive medical records. Educate clients about preventative care, pet health needs, diagnoses, treatment, hospital services, and other related information. Prescribe and administer preventative care and treat diseases and injuries of pets. Communicate diagnosis and treatment plans to the veterinary medical team and clients. Maintain controlled substance inventory log and comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Assist veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians as per state guidelines. Working Conditions Work may exceed 40 hours per week; requires weekends and evenings. Must be confident around pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.). Requires ambulatory skills to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs. Moderately high noise level. Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, medications, and controlled substances. Minimal travel for vendor visits and associate education. Experience, Education & Training Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent required. License in good standing with applicable state veterinary board.
