Physician, Medical Oncology [Heme, BMT, CAR-T] (Berkeley, CA)

Sutter East Bay Medical Group

Job Description

Job Description

Salary Range : USD $525,771.00 - USD $574,191.00 per year.

Opportunity Overview

Our organization is looking to recruit a Board Eligible/Board Certified Medical Oncologist to become part of our expanding and collaborative team in Berkeley, CA.

We are enhancing our services for cancer patients in the East Bay region, which is one of six key areas for our health system. Currently, our Berkeley cancer center employs five medical oncologists, and to better serve our community, we plan to introduce medical oncology and infusion services at a new site in Antioch, California, set to open in the summer of 2025. This new location will be integrated with our advanced comprehensive cancer center in Oakland, scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026, in partnership with a National Cancer Institute-designated academic medical center.

The ideal candidate will be a medical oncologist with at least 3-5 years of experience in cancer care following fellowship training. Centralized support for cancer treatment will be provided across all East Bay locations to ensure a seamless patient experience within our health system.

We are committed to delivering equitable cancer care to our community, irrespective of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or insurance coverage. Our integrated network identifies approximately 17,000 new cancer cases each year and provides care at twenty interconnected cancer centers. Our physician network consists of over 200 medical and radiation oncology specialists collaborating to develop distinguished programs across various clinical areas. As we broaden our cancer services in the East Bay, we will also increase the number of clinical trials available to our patients, which currently exceed 150 across our network. While we already have centers of excellence in neuro-oncology, hematologic malignancies, and cellular therapies, we anticipate establishing additional specialized programs in the East Bay over the next five years.

Qualifications

  • MD, MD/PhD, DO, or equivalent degree(s) with fellowship training in medical oncology is required.
  • Board certification and eligibility for a California medical license are necessary; 3-5 years of experience is preferred.
  • Must be Board Certified in Medical Oncology.
  • Fellowship training in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) or at least one year of experience in Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T at an accredited center, or 2-3 years of attending physician experience if no training in Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T but involvement in a Transplant Program.
  • Must be able to manage general oncology, benign hematology, and malignant cases.

Benefits of Joining Us

  • Attractive compensation with a guaranteed salary range of $525,771 - $574,191.

The stated range represents the base salary for full-time (1.0 FTE) clinicians and does not include additional incentives or benefits. The base salary may be adjusted based on factors such as training, experience, community needs, and other relevant criteria.
