The Tone: This is a hybrid role at SmartStop Self Storage, located in Ladera Ranch, CA, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays once fully trained. SmartStop Self Storage operates over 200 self-storage properties across North America, providing storage solutions and an award-winning customer experience. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the monthly close process for approximately 20 self-storage properties, and contributing to the company’s significant growth and success. The TL;DR Role: Early Career Type: Full-time Location: Hybrid, Ladera Ranch, CA Pay: $73000 yearly Team: Reporting to the Accounting Manager Mission: This person is responsible for the monthly property financial statement close process, maintaining internal controls, and supporting internal financial reporting. Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Great Plains What You’ll Actually Do Reconcile: Produce journal entries, banking, and account reconciliations for assigned properties. Prepare: Generate monthly balance sheets and income statements. Analyze: Review budget and actual financial results to identify and report variances. Integrate: Support the financial integration of new property acquisitions as needed. Report: Compile a comprehensive monthly financial reporting package for each property. The Must-Haves Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience. Experience: Experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial statements. Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, strong organizational and analytical abilities, clear oral and written communication, attention to detail, and ability to adapt quickly to change.
