Career and Technical Education (CTE) Supervisor

A Career and Technical Education (CTE) Supervisor - sometimes titled as a CTE Director of Coordinator - in a Tennessee public school system is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the district's career-focused academic programs in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations. This district-level administrative role bridges the gap between classrooms, state education departments, and local workforce industries to ensure student paths lead directly to employment, industry certifications, or postsecondary enrollment. Core Job Responsibilities Grant and Budget Management : Acts as the primary administrator for the federal Carl D. Perkins Grant , managing application updates, budget spending compliance, and inventory tracking for equipment bought with federal funds. State and Compliance Reporting : Completes all mandated Tennessee Department of Education reports via tools like ePlan and eTIGER , ensuring data accuracy regarding student enrollment, program concentrators, and performance metrics. Curriculum and Program Design : Conducts the mandatory bi-annual Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) to ensure the district's programs of study align with high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand Tennessee labor market metrics. Instructional Support : Recruits, interviews, and evaluates CTE teaching staff while leading professional development centered around standard updates and integrating testing objectives. Community and Industry Partnerships : Cooperates with local chambers of commerce, business leaders, and higher education facilities to expand work-based learning, internships, and dual-enrollment opportunities. CTSO Support : Overlooks and supports district chapters of Career and Technical Student Organizations such as FFA, HOSA, DECA, and SkillsUSA. Minimum Education & Experience Requirements Education : A Bachelor's degree is required, though most districts prefer a Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a CTE-related sector. Licensure : Must hold a valid Tennessee Educator License with an active Instructional Leadership (Administration/Supervision) endorsement . Experience : Generally requires a minimum of five (5) years of successful educational experience. Technical Skills : Proficiency with Tennessee state data software, grant management tools, and labor market data evaluation processes.
