Associate - General Liability and Appellate

Job Overview A law firm seeks a mid-level Associate to join their team in Syosset, NY. The position involves working within the Monitoring/Appellate Practice Group, focusing on high exposure cases across various practice areas in both State and Federal Court. The role offers opportunities for professional development and advancement. Responsibilities Manage individual caseloads, handling defense from inception through trial. Monitor and draft pleadings and discovery responses. Analyze medical, workers' compensation, and employment records. Develop strategies for depositions of party and non-party witnesses. Coordinate with liability and damages experts. Draft discovery and dispositive motions. Analyze risk transfer opportunities and draft tender letters. Appear for court conferences and motion arguments. Prepare cases for mediations/arbitrations and assist in trial preparations. Conduct legal research and prepare motions, including appellate briefs. Qualifications J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Active license in good standing in New York. 4-6 years of legal practice, with at least 3 years in New York General Liability, Labor Law, or Personal Injury defense. Monitoring/Appellate experience preferred. License in New Jersey or willingness to gain admission to other states preferred. Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong writing and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ProLaw, Excel, and e-document management software preferred. Prior remote work experience preferred.
