Histotechnologist
Labcorp
Labcorp seeks a histotechnologist to process tissue specimens and prepare microscopic slides at a Henry Ford Providence facility in Southfield, Michigan. The role involves embedding tissue, performing staining procedures, operating laboratory instruments, and maintaining quality control standards.
Responsibilities
- Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination
- Section embedded tissue using microtome and mount sections on microscope slides
- Perform immunohistochemical tests on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections
- Execute routine and special staining procedures on mounted sections
- Orient, embed surgical tissue specimens, and prepare stains and reagents
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Science, Biological Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science
- Ability to pass standardized color blindness test
- Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
- Histology and/or ASCP certification (preferred)
- One or more years histology experience (preferred)
