GIS SpecialistWe are urgently hiring a GIS Specialist for a 1st shift position in Southern NJ to support a prominent remediation company. The role is based onsite at the historical Dupont/Chemours location in Deepwater, NJ. This specialized position involves more fieldwork compared to traditional GIS roles, requiring a general understanding of GPS hardware and GIS software. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for tasks such as working with vector and raster data, data processing, and supporting field technicians with data collection. The role involves collecting, processing, and inputting data extracted from heavy equipment on job sites, such as tracking coordinates and reporting quantities and daily metrics.Responsibilities:Work with vector and raster data for data processing.Support field technicians with data collection.Collect, process, and input data from heavy equipment.Track coordinates and movements on job sites.Report quantities and daily metrics.Maintain and organize files effectively.Essential Skills:Fluency in GIS software (QGIS & ArcGIS) with field applications.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, workflows, and processes/procedures.Quick learning capability for new software and GIS systems.Basic understanding of Python coding within GIS software.Knowledge of GPS hardware equipment (Trimble and others).Strong organizational and documentation skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Geology, Geography, Engineering Technology, or related field.Experience supporting environmental, construction, remediation, utility, surveying, or infrastructure projects preferred.Comfortable presenting data and findings to technical stakeholders.Willingness to travel as required.Work Environment:The GIS Specialist will work a 4-day week (Monday - Thursday, 6am - 4:30pm) with little to no overtime. The role involves working both in the field at construction sites and in an onsite office environment equipped with AC. The position offers a collaborative environment involving radiological technicians, environmental professionals, field supervisors, and GIS support teams. This opportunity provides long-term project stability and significant project runway, with direct exposure to leadership and the chance to work on a historically significant remediation effort involving federal agencies.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vineland, NJ.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
