Controls Engineer

Kforce has a client in Sparks, NV that is seeking a Controls Engineer who will program and debug structured text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (Siemens TIA Portal and Omron Sysmac Studio). Responsibilities:
- Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using Siemens WinCC/Proface/Weintek EasyBuilder and SCADA dashboards screens using Ignition
- Create robust programs and sequences to control complex, multi-station machinery to perform processes such as material pick and place, dispense, roll to roll, welding, testing and material transport
- Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
- Design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment as per codes and standards
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing
- Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation of automated manufacturing equipment
- Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required
- Conducting all remaining functional safety gap audits to ensure all meet functional safety requirements and satisfy all callouts within the associate Risk Assessment
- Designing all Functional Safety upgrade electrical and software design changes
- Conduct I/O Checks and go through the electrical integrity sheet to ensure all inputs and outputs are tested
- Coordinate and assist in parts procurement needed to implement designed safety architecture
- Working with electrical technicians and guiding then during hardware installation
- To be considered for this position, candidates must have experience in a similar role, or they must possess significant knowledge, experience, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities listed
- Relevant education and/or training will be considered a plus
