Overview


Our client is undertaking a complete modernization of their proprietary platform, rebuilding core capabilities using cloud-native technologies on AWS and incorporating AI-assisted development practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.


We are seeking a talented Full Stack Software Engineer who is passionate about building scalable systems, solving complex technical problems, and leveraging modern AI tools to accelerate development.


This role is primarily focused on backend engineering, with occasional frontend development responsibilities. The client is a benefit administrator and is re-doing their portal for benefits selection and maintenance.


The ideal candidate brings strong Python and AWS experience, excellent software engineering fundamentals, and hands-on experience using AI-powered coding tools to improve productivity, accelerate delivery, and solve engineering challenges.


This is an opportunity to contribute to a greenfield modernization initiative while working alongside a highly collaborative engineering team embracing modern development practices.



What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
• Build scalable, secure, cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Participate in the design and development of a next-generation platform modernization initiative.
• Partner with product owners, architects, and engineers in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and solution delivery.
• Contribute to API design, service architecture, and cloud infrastructure decisions.
• Support frontend integrations and occasionally contribute to user-facing applications built with React and related technologies.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best practices initiatives.
• Reverse engineer and modernize legacy business logic where required.
• Help improve engineering velocity through automation, AI-assisted workflows, and continuous improvement practices.
• Deliver features and enhancements within an iterative two-week sprint cadence.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Python.
• Experience building and deploying applications within AWS environments.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable backend systems.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and adaptability when working with new technologies.
• Hands-on experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools within real-world engineering workflows.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

• Python development in production environments.
• AWS cloud-native application development.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools to:
  • Generate application code
  • Accelerate API development
  • Reverse engineer existing functionality
  • Improve development efficiency
  • Reduce repetitive coding tasks
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture principles.
• Experience working on platform modernization or greenfield development initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Node.js development experience.
• Go development experience.
• React or modern frontend framework experience.
• Experience with AWS Bedrock.
• Experience with AI-enabled application development.
• Exposure to Agentic AI frameworks and workflows.
• Experience using AWS Kiro, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted development platforms.
• AWS certifications.
