Human Services Program Specialist

This Disease Intervention Specialist position with the Virginia Department of Health identifies and contacts individuals exposed to or at risk of sexually transmitted infections and other communicable diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea, and HIV/AIDS. The role provides client-centered counseling, education, and referrals for testing and treatment while working to prevent further disease transmission. The position is based in the Central region of Virginia, primarily serving the greater Richmond metropolitan area, and requires frequent in-state travel with a personal vehicle. Key qualifications Knowledge of public health practices, HIV, STIs, and communicable diseases; experience with phlebotomy Knowledge and experience with public health administration, planning, service delivery, surveillance, and quality assurance Ability to listen, empathize in a culturally sensitive manner, and build rapport with diverse populations Experience with data collection, analysis, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity Demonstrated effective oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Frequent in-state travel required; must have access to a personal vehicle #J-18808-Ljbffr DGS Office of External Affairs
