The emergency department serves as a referral center and includes a Level II trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center. The department is known for its teamwork and welcoming atmosphere. It serves a diverse community with over 120 languages spoken in the area. A high-volume environment with approximately 100,000 visits annually. Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical cases, and up to 7:1 on behavioral holds. Unit staffing includes available technicians for various functions including cardiac monitoring and triage. Nurses will work with advanced equipment including pumps and monitors. All staff are expected to maintain respectful behavior and prioritize patient experience. A commitment to ongoing education is required, with certifications needed within specified timeframes.
