Paramedic

Primary City/State: Tucson, Arizona Department: Emergency Ctr-Hosp Shift: Night (7:30PM – 7:00AM) Job Category: Clinical Care Position Type: Full‑time Position Summary This full‑time Emergency Department Paramedic provides patient care during the night shift under the medical direction of the base hospital EMS Medical Director. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting care for patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional paramedic standards. Core Functions Evaluate patient acuity and match care needs to unit and hospital resources. Perform basic patient care within scope of training: positioning, transportation, phlebotomy, ECGs, spinal precautions, medication administration/monitoring, peripheral and external jugular IV line initiation, and fluid administration per physician order. Perform cardiovascular monitoring and management, airway management, oxygen administration, tracheal suctioning, assisted ventilation, positioning, and end‑tidal CO₂ and pulse‑ox monitoring within scope and state guidelines. Actively participate in resuscitation of critical patients as assigned. Observe and monitor patients during the diagnostic phase of treatment. Perform additional duties as assigned based on competency and training. Recognize changes in patient status that require notification of charge or primary nurse and physician; keep them informed of status and activities; alert responsible physician to changes. Document assessments, reassessments, and progress toward outcomes on appropriate documentation forms, including discharge plans and consulted services. Interact with all staff levels, patients, families, and external contacts, including employees of other health care institutions and community providers, to report and clarify patient information. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent working knowledge. Current and valid Paramedic certification or license in the state of practice with ongoing maintenance. Current BLS and ACLS certification required. PALS certification required if working in the Emergency Department or with pediatric patients. Moderate experience: 2–4 years relevant work experience or 12–18 months in an educational program. Preferred Qualifications FP‑C or CCT‑P certification if working in ICU, Burn, or CVCU.
