Sparks Yard ManThe Sparks Yard Man is responsible for the efficient day to day coordination and execution of Milne Towing Services Sparks Yard Operations. The Sparks Yard Man is a key member of the Milne Towing Services Team who is responsible for day to day yard operations including: Auction Preparation, Customer Service, Facility Maintenance & Cleaning, Tool & Tow Equipment Maintenance/Forklift, Vehicle Storage Management, Security and office backup. The success of this position hinges upon excellent operational execution, attention to detail, highest level of honesty and integrity and clear, effective communication with all employees.Customer ServiceOpen and Close Yard Gate: 8:00 am Open; 5:00 pm Close & LockProvide positive appearance & attitude to customersWear Uniform when on-dutyCarry and respond to radio/cell phone when on-dutySupport Dispatchers and Office Staff for Yard/shop related requestsEscorting customers to vehicles to retrieve registrations or personal belongingsEnsure appropriate paperwork filled out for escort, property removal, etc.Escorting/show Insurance adjusters to vehiclesProvide General Customer AssistanceAuctionAuction Set-up (second Saturday of every month)Verify Auction Vehicle Set-up with Lien Manager and SupervisorMove vehicles into auction orderClean Auction Vehicles to standard defined by vehicle conditionRemove license plates from auction vehiclesCoordinate getting keys made for specified vehiclesEnsure key paperwork given to manager in timely fashionPrepare vehicles for auctionWork with Impound Manager to determine how much effort to put into getting vehicle to run prior to auctionManage Items removed from Auction vehiclesDo not remove private property from an auction vehicle until 3-4 days prior to Auction unless concerned about theft – then discuss with SupervisorStore personal property in designated secure areaDiscuss disposition of personal property items with GM prior to sale, disposal, or offering to employees – no useful items to be disposed of prior to auctionArrange for donation to Designated CharitiesAuction DaySet up Auction SignsRun Battery Cart & Start CarsProvide security during auctionAssist buyers with getting their purchased vehicles loaded and out of yardManage Vehicle KeysFacility MaintenanceMaintain Clean Yard – free of car parts, garbage & weedsMaintain Yard Street Frontage – free of garbage & weedsEnsure Fences, Gates, and Shop Doors are Properly Functioning – Repair as requiredReplace burned out lightsEmpty GarbageEnsure Yard Entrance/Driveway are Properly MaintainedNeat & CleanHoses disconnected in freezing weather and coiled and neat all timesEquipment put awayPerform Minor Repairs and/or report issues to ManagerMaintain Signs/Remove GraffitiWork with Drivers to reduce yard damageRepair major cracks in asphaltClean & stock supplies as needed during the weekRequest materials or outside assistance as required to maintain premisesMilne Tool & Tow Equipment ManagementKeep all tools properly stored & securely lockedKeep all equipment in designated locationEnsure all tools used/loaned are clean and put awayEnsure Tow Equipment and Supplies and Securely StoredEnsure No Towing Equipment Issued without Management AuthorizationForklift (minimum of 1 year experience)Obtain current Forklift certificationEnsure Forklift General Maintenance Items & Inspection PerformedTrack Maintenance Interval and arrange for forklift service as requiredEnsure Forklift is clean, oiled, greased (weekly)Ensure Forklift kept inside in inclement weatherVehicle StorageEnsure Vehicles are stored based upon yard storage planVehicles with obvious valuable personal property visible – indoor storageEnsure all vehicles that may be leaking have drip pan placed underneathEnsure any Hazardous waste is cleaned up appropriatelyProtect "Wrap" Vehicles from weather - as appropriateConduct monthly vehicle inventory during Week 3 of each monthProvide office with daily record on specified forms of any vehicle receiving Hazmat and/or Protective wrap to facilitate proper billingConduct monthly vehicle inventory and provide to Impound Manager – work with GM to design processNote whether any open vehicles have personal property present and notify Supervisor if theft danger existsMinimize vehicle movement as much as practicalRequirementsAll tasks completed in a quality, timely and efficient mannerWorking outside regardless of weather (cold or hot)Must have valid driver licenseRequired to drive a forkliftAvailable to work the 2nd Saturday of every month for auction dayJob Type: Full-time
