Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at our Hilton Head location. This role involves a variety of accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and lease accounting. The ideal candidate will embody our Finance non-negotiables and contribute to a collaborative and positive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Account Reconciliation: Perform general ledger account and bank statement reconciliations accurately and on time.
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, including month-end closing entries and accruals.
• Financial Reporting: Create and maintain user-friendly financial reports; assist with monthly report preparation.
• Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset system and ensure compliance with lease accounting requirements.
• Aged Receivables: Keep current aged receivables, understanding their impact on cash flow and planning.
• Variance Analysis: Analyze financial information and monitor budgeted vs. actual activity; recommend actions for variances.
• Compliance: Review account reconciliations and other documents for adherence to company policies and GAAP.
• Audit Support: Prepare documentation for external auditors and assist during audit processes.
• Process Improvement: Embrace continuous improvement, demonstrating curiosity and critical thinking to challenge the status quo.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the finance department.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant, preferably in a resort or club environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in MS 365, with an interest in Power BI. Familiarity with financial closing processes, general ledger management, and subsidiary ledgers.
• Interpersonal Skills: Engaging personality with strong communication skills, comfortable interacting with members, employees, and guests.
• Work Environment: Must be physically present at the work site 5 days a week during normal business hours. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
