Human Resources (HR) Manager – Your Job Duties

You will lead the Human Resources function while working hands on alongside an HR Generalist to support managers and employees.

Employee Relations & Manager Coaching

• Serve as the go to HR resource for leaders and managers on employee relations, performance and people decisions
• Lead employee investigations and coach managers through feedback, PIPs, disciplinary actions, difficult conversations and employee separations
• Build manager confidence and accountability by giving leaders practical tools, coaching and guidance to better lead their teams

Compliance & Employment Law

• Apply your employment law knowledge to everyday HR decisions, workplace accommodations, leaves of absence and employee matters
• Maintain compliant HR policies, documentation and practices, including considerations for a remote workforce
• Work with employment attorneys and outside experts when an issue needs additional legal expertise, while confidently handling day to day HR matters in house

• Benefits & Total Rewards
• Oversee employee benefits and total rewards, including annual renewals and self insured benefit programs
• Partner with brokers, vendors and leadership to evaluate plan performance, costs, competitiveness and the employee experience

People, Culture & HR Leadership

• Lead and work hands on alongside the HR Generalist, sharing your HR knowledge while helping develop their capabilities
• Strengthen performance management, employee engagement, onboarding and employee communications
• Bring structure to HR practices and processes while keeping them practical, approachable and right sized for a growing business

Human Resources (HR) Manager – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit)

You have:

• Broad, hands on Human Resources experience where you have worked across employee relations, compliance, benefits and the day to day realities of HR
• Prior experience handling employee relations, workplace investigations, performance improvement plans and complex employee matters
• Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance, including leaves of absence and workplace accommodations
• Prior experience coaching managers through performance, accountability and difficult employee conversations
• Prior experience working with employment attorneys or outside counsel on complex employee matters
• Prior experience with employee benefits and total rewards
• A hands on, scrappy small business mindset. You are happy working in a two person HR department where you are both a trusted HR leader and hands on executor. You see what needs to get done and get it done.
• An approachable, outgoing communication style that helps you build trust with leaders, managers and employees

You might have:

• Prior experience in insurance, a third party administrator, financial services or another regulated, relationship driven industry
• Experience navigating HR considerations for a remote workforce
• Prior experience with self insured employee benefit plans
• SHRM SCP, SHRM CP, SPHR, PHR or another Human Resources certification

Human Resources (HR) Manager – Benefits for You

Your base salary will be $130,000 to $150,000 + annually, with your compensation determined based on your experience, qualifications, skills and scope of responsibility. An incentive or bonus opportunity is also anticipated.

You will be provided with employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement and paid time off, with final benefit plan details to be provided.

You will work out of the company headquarters office in Woodland, California on site. Being together during this transition gives you the opportunity to quickly build relationships, understand the business and become the trusted HR resource for managers and employees.
