Sr Electronics Technician
Location: Elgin, IL
Pay: $28.00–$34.00 per hour (pay determined on experience)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Electronics Technician to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong component-level troubleshooting experience, the ability to read schematics, and hands-on repair skills with through-hole and surface-mount technology (SMT) components. The ideal Sr Electronics Technician candidate will also provide technical support, document repair findings, and mentor other technicians on best practices.

Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair PCBAs to the component level.
• Perform through-hole and SMT component replacement, rework, and soldering repairs.
• Use schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and technical documentation to identify failures.
• Operate electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic tools.
• Analyze repair trends, recurring failures, and root causes to support quality and process improvement.
• Create and update repair procedures, troubleshooting guides, and visual work instructions.
• Document all repair activity, findings, parts used, and testing results accurately.
• Support production teams by maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.
• Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Level I and Level II electronics repair technicians.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe work area.

Required Qualifications
• 8–10+ years of electronics repair, PCBA repair, or related component-level troubleshooting experience.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot electronic failures using schematics and test equipment.
• Hands-on experience repairing through-hole and SMT components.
• Proficiency with soldering, desoldering, rework tools, and inspection equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, work instructions, and repair documentation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to document repairs accurately.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, vocational certification, military electronics training, or an associate degree in electronics is preferred.

Preferred Skills and Certifications
• IPC certification strongly preferred, including IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, or IPC-7711/7721.
• BGA rework experience is a plus.
• Experience with fine-pitch SMT soldering and microscope inspection preferred.
• Experience supporting root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic repair documentation systems.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Level II technicians with strong PCBA repair experience may also be considered.
