Organist

Main Functions:

Provide organ and/or piano music during worship services and other church events.

Duties include but are not limited to:

•  Provide organ and/or piano music for regularly scheduled worship services and special events, in coordination with Director of Music Ministry, including performing prelude and postlude and accompanying choir anthems or other special music

•  Participate in choir rehearsals, as needed

•  Maintain sheet music and oversee tuning and maintenance of the church organ and piano

•  Use the organ and piano to lift up the congregation in music for the praise of God

•  Attend and participate in staff meetings as requested by Director of Music Ministry, Assistant Director of Music Ministry, Senior Pastor or Staff Parish Relations Team

Rehoboth UMC Staff Expectations:

·    All Rehoboth UMC staff persons are expected to (1) live a lifestyle that brings honor to Christ and Church, (2) fully affirm UM theology and policy as outlined in the UM Book of Discipline and (3) participate as a team player with the rest of the staff.

·    Work Sunday morning worship services, rehearsals, and special services and events

·    Frequently work at the front of the sanctuary before the congregation

Employment Requirements:

·    Proficiency in organ and piano, including reading sheet music

·    Working knowledge of the structure of worship services within the United Methodist Church

·    Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and the congregation

·    Must coordinate with the Director of Music Ministry any scheduled absences affecting worship services
