Property Accountant

Job Description Job Title Property Accountant Location White Plains, NY (on‑site) Job Summary The Property Accountant will maintain accurate financial records and support day‑to‑day accounting operations for a growing real estate‑focused organization. The role works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely processing, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of financial information. Responsibilities Perform daily accounts payable activities with appropriate controls, documentation, and approval processes. Complete monthly bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Assist in preparation of annual budgets and support invoice coding and budget tracking. Prepare and maintain recurring journal entries, including prepaid expenses and accruals. Assist with monthly budget‑to‑actual variance analysis and explain material differences. Prepare customer or internal billings and support collection and reconciliation of outstanding balances. Assist with cash management activities, including cash flow tracking and forecasting. Support periodic reporting needs, including ad‑hoc financial analysis, management reporting, and external reporting requirements. Assist with year‑end processes such as 1099 preparation and coordinate with external partners as needed. Perform general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Participate in process improvement initiatives and support additional accounting projects as assigned. Essential Skills & Experience At least 5+ years of overall accounting experience. Minimum 3+ years as a property accountant. Hands‑on property accounting experience within a real estate environment. Proficiency with Yardi property management software or a similar ERP system. High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field. Experience in real estate accounting environments. Familiarity with financial reporting for internal management and external stakeholders. Pay and Benefits Pay range: $38.46 – $45.67 per hour.
