About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience License: RN License required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS PALS or ENPC CPI or MOAB TNCC (preferred) Must-Have: Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Skills include NGT tube insertion, IV starts, chest tube management, defibrillation, splinting, Stroke/NIHSS experience, and ICU gtt management. Description: This position involves working in an Emergency Room setting with a total of 22 beds and a 7-bed fast track area. We see approximately 120 patients per day, ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. Common patient conditions include cardiac issues, diabetes, DKA, dialysis, renal failure, cancer, infectious disease, CHF, ESRD, LVAD, and multiple system trauma. The staff-to-patient ratios are RN 1:3-4, with CNA support from 2 ED Techs per shift. Support on the unit includes a charge nurse, unit clerk, and phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws. An RT team is available 24/7 in the Emergency Department. Two physicians and two midlevels will be present on each shift. Charting is completed using an EMR system, and IV medications are managed with specific equipment. There is a weekend rotation requirement, with an expectation to work every other weekend. Schedule typically consists of a 4-day work week followed by a 3-day work week, with night shifts potentially offering a 7 on/7 off cycle. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 major holidays. Scrub color is pewter, with t-shirts allowed in gray, white, or black. Badges must be worn above the waist in full view at all times.
