Assistant Project Manager, Heavy Civil / HighwayLocation: Lakeland / Polk County, FL area (full time onsite)Industry: Heavy Civil / Highway / Bridge / Infrastructure ConstructionAn established heavy civil contractor is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for a large multiyear highway program in the Lakeland and Polk County area. This is a strong next step for a Project Engineer ready to move up, or an APM who wants a big job with a long runway and a stable employer. You'll work alongside the project manager on planning, subcontracts and contract administration so the job stays on budget and on schedule, much of it state highway work. Central Florida locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.What You'll Be Responsible ForSupport the project manager on cost, schedule and resource planningAdminister subcontracts and purchase orders, and coordinate subs and suppliersManage submittals, RFIs and change order paperwork with the ownerTrack quantities, pay items and monthly pay estimatesCoordinate crews, material and equipment with the superintendentsKeep permits, licenses and project documentation currentHelp update the schedule and the cost forecastBack the field on safety and qualityReport progress to the project manager and the ownerWhat We're Looking For3+ years on heavy civil highway or bridge projects as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer or APMFour year degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Civil EngineeringSolid with submittals, RFIs, quantities and pay estimatesFDOT or Turnpike experience is a plusClear writer and communicator under schedule pressurePrimavera P6, HCSS or Bluebeam is a plusBased in Central Florida or ready to relocate to the Lakeland areaWhy This Role Is Worth a ConversationFull time role with an established heavy civil builder, not a one project hireFull benefits packageA large multiyear program with a long runway of workA clear path from APM to Project ManagerHeavy civil work on the kind of projects that build a career.
