About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Property Accounting to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of property accounting activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close for a portfolio of commercial properties. This role involves the preparation and review of property-level and consolidated financial statements, management of general ledger activity, and handling of various accounting tasks such as CAM reconciliations, expense recoveries, and tenant billings. The Head of Property Accounting will also be involved in maintaining rent roll accuracy, managing accounts payable, and supporting the annual operating budget process. A key aspect of the position is to partner closely with asset management and the company's Partners, and to help create more scalable accounting processes as the portfolio expands. Applicants for the Head of Property Accounting position at the company should have a minimum of 3 years' experience in property or real estate accounting, with a preference for those with a background in commercial real estate. The role requires a strong understanding of property-level financial statements, month-end close, and various accounting processes related to commercial properties. Experience with property accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or AppFolio is essential, as are strong Excel skills. A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required, and a CPA is a plus. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be comfortable working directly with senior leadership, and be able to thrive in a growing, hands-on environment.
