What You Will Do Perform safety oversight of contractors to ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards during vegetation clearing activities. Assist in planning and creating the vegetation clearing scope of work to meet NERC and utility right‑of‑way standards. Contact property owners to obtain written permission for necessary work. Perform and document quality assurance (QA) inspections on contractor work for compliance with scope and specifications. Conduct hazard tree assessments. Communicate daily with utility clients, contractors, landowners, and the public. Develop a comprehensive understanding of all relevant utility and environmental standards. Complete work summaries, QA reports, and progress updates weekly with detailed documentation. Maintain positive public relations in all duties. Work storm duty following catastrophic weather events affecting the utility. Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations. Assume additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. What You Need To Have 1–3 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management. Local tree identification skills. Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, multi‑tasking, and detail‑oriented abilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to represent AMS professionally. Knowledge of common computer applications and ability to learn new programs. Self‑motivated, able to work independently outdoors in various weather and terrain. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office). Ability to work safely and independently in remote areas with limited supervision. Ability to read maps accurately and judge spatial distances. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. What Would Be Amazing To Have Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. 1–3 years of experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture, or a tree‑related green industry. ISA Arborist Certification. Experience with GIS mapping programs. Strong team mentality, work ethic, and pride in work. Familiarity with powerline nomenclature and construction. Bi‑lingual (English/Spanish). Physical Requirements The team member must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment, walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and perform repetitive hand, arm, and shoulder movements. The role may require carrying, pushing, or pulling light to heavy loads, lifting up to 10 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally, operating field equipment (handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, traffic cone), and communicating verbally with the public.
