Locums Emergency Medicine Physician Opportunity

We are seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician to provide coverage in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This opportunity offers flexible scheduling in a busy emergency department with a moderate annual patient volume and a collaborative clinical environment.

Position Highlights

• Schedule: 412 shifts per month
• Shift Length: 8 hours
• Available Shifts:
  • 6:30 AM2:30 PM
  • 1:30 PM10:30 PM
  • 9:30 PM6:30 AM
• Annual ED Volume: Approximately 22,000 patients
• EMR: Epic
• Dictation: Dragon
• Scribes: None

Patient Volume & Acuity

• Approximately 77% discharge rate
• Approximately 14% admission rate
• Approximately 4% left before treatment complete
• Approximately 2.8% observation
• Approximately 2.5% transfer

Responsibilities

• Provide routine emergency medicine care to patients of varying acuity
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department
• Respond to codes and other emergent situations
• Perform appropriate emergency procedures and interventions
• Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, and other members of the healthcare team
• Locums physicians will have limited trauma responsibilities
• Complete accurate and timely documentation using Epic and Dragon

Requirements

• Active Iowa medical license
• Active DEA
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
• Emergency Medicine experience required
