Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Work Setting: 100% onsite in a manufacturing and production-floor environment

Schedule: Multiple schedules available depending on assignment, including Monday–Friday day shift and 12-hour rotating production shifts

Compensation: Approximately $25.00–$29.00 per hour, depending on experience

Shift Differential: $3.50 per hour for night shift

Overtime: Built-in overtime applies to 48-hour weeks within the rotating 2-2-3 schedule

Position Summary

A growing manufacturer of custom-engineered materials is seeking multiple Quality Technicians to provide hands-on quality support within its Grand Rapids manufacturing operation.

These positions play an important role in ensuring manufactured products meet customer specifications and quality requirements before and during production. Opportunities include both finished-product quality control and release responsibilities as well as production-floor quality assurance positions working directly alongside extrusion and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate has approximately two years of manufacturing quality, inspection, or related experience and is comfortable using measurement tools, documenting results, working with computer-based quality systems, and making objective quality decisions. Specific film-testing experience is not required; candidates can be trained on the organization's products and testing methods.

What You'll Do

• Inspect and audit manufactured film and related materials to verify conformance with specifications and quality requirements

• Perform dimensional inspections, physical-property testing, recurring in-process testing, and quality-documentation reviews

• Conduct first-article inspections and identify deviations early in the manufacturing process

• Use tape measures, gauges, measurement equipment, and basic math to accurately evaluate products

• Document inspection and testing results in quality and ERP systems

• Communicate quality concerns directly to production and operations personnel

• Work independently and make objective decisions when products or processes do not meet requirements

• Escalate investigations and more complex root-cause issues to quality or engineering resources when appropriate

• Partner closely with production teams to maintain quality standards throughout active manufacturing runs

• Support product holds, disposition activities, documentation, and product-release processes as assigned

Depending on assignment, technicians may focus primarily on product release and quality control , reviewing finished healthcare and food-and-beverage films before shipment, or may be embedded directly with production teams to provide real-time quality assurance throughout extrusion runs.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED

• Approximately 2 years of quality-control, inspection, or related manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

• Experience inspecting manufactured products and identifying deviations from specifications

• Ability to accurately use tape measures, gauges, and other basic measurement tools

• Solid basic math and mechanical-reasoning skills

• Strong attention to detail and follow-through

• Ability to document inspection and testing results accurately

• Comfortable working with PCs and programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word

• Ability to learn and work within ERP and quality-documentation systems

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a manufacturing team

• Confidence making objective quality decisions even when those decisions may require difficult conversations with production personnel

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Applied Science or a related technical field

• Previous manufacturing quality-control or quality-assurance experience

• Experience within flexible packaging, plastics, extrusion, film, converting, or another process-manufacturing environment

• Healthcare, food-contact, or other regulated-manufacturing experience

• Experience performing dimensional inspections, first-article inspections, or physical-property testing

• Previous responsibility for auditing production, documenting nonconformances, or making independent product-quality decisions

• Familiarity with ERP or electronic quality systems

• Strong manufacturing experience involving inspection responsibilities may be considered even when the candidate's previous title was Machine Operator or Production Operator
