Back of House Team Member (Part-Time) — McAlister's Deli, Pensacola

What You'll Own on Each Shift

You are part of the Heart of the House. The job:

Make the food right. Prepare items to McAlister's recipe and portion standards. Read tickets accurately. Move at the pace the rush requires without sacrificing the standard. The guest experience starts with what comes off your station.

Hold the standard. Clean station, organized storage, sharp uniform, food safety practices followed without shortcuts. You catch what needs to be done before someone has to ask. You report safety concerns to management directly and immediately. The standard doesn't change when the tickets stack up — that's what makes a strong BOH team member.

Work as one kitchen. Your station is your responsibility, but the line is a team. You back up other stations when they're slammed. You communicate clearly with FOH so tickets go out fast and right. You ask for help when you need it and you give it when you can.

Show up ready. A part-time shift is short, which means there's no warm-up period. You arrive on time, in uniform, and ready to work the moment you clock in.

What We're Looking For

• Reliable, on-time attendance — the team depends on you being there
• Genuine pride in food quality and attention to detail
• Ability to keep your composure and your standard during a rush
• Comfort using mobile apps for scheduling, time tracking, and shift communication
• A direct, collaborative communication style — both within BOH and with FOH
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Florida Food Handler's certification
• Must be 16 years of age or older; 18+ to operate certain equipment

Compensation and Benefits

• $14.50 – $16.50 per hour based on experience and station proficiency, including tip share
• Overtime paid at 1.5× your hourly rate for hours over 40
• No late nights — we close at 9 PM, which means evening shifts end early enough for school nights, primary jobs, or family time

Physical Requirements

• Standing and walking for the duration of your shift in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Bending, reaching, kneeling, and working in tight kitchen spaces
• Lifting up to 25 pounds regularly; transporting up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Clear communication in English with team members
• Hearing and vision (with correction) sufficient to maintain food safety standards
• Reliable transportation to and from the restaurant
