Position Summary A Peer Support Specialist will work the Weekend Overnight Shift (Thursday–Saturday) at the Indio Crisis Walk‑In Center, providing front‑line support and de‑escalation for adults entering crisis. The role utilizes lived experience to build rapport, facilitate safety planning, and guide participants toward recovery resources. Pay & Benefits Base Pay: $31.00 – $35.00/hr Overnight Shift Differential: +$3.00/hr Weekend Differential: +$3.00/hr Bilingual Differential (Spanish/English): +$2.00/hr Sign‑On Bonus: $500 Ready‑to‑Work Bonus for active California PSS Certification Full‑time, 36 paid hours per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) Fixed Block schedule: Thu, Fri, Sat (no rotating shifts, no on‑call) Key Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for adults in distress, using lived experience to model calm and hope. Utilize peer‑based de‑escalation techniques (Intentional Peer Support model) to prevent restrictive interventions. Monitor environment and proactively engage participants before a crisis escalates. Facilitate creation of individualized safety plans focused on strengths and triggers. Support participants during the vulnerable post‑assessment period to process experiences and stabilize goals. Maintain accurate, timely, person‑centered documentation outlining progress and peer impact. Qualifications & Requirements Personal, lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery. Comfortable using recovery journey as a professional tool to inspire hope. California PSS Certification (must have or obtain within 6 months of hire). High School Diploma or GED (or higher) required. Crisis competency: remain grounded and empathetic in a high‑intensity environment. Strong verbal and written communication for documenting notes and collaborating with clinicians. Demonstrated cultural humility and commitment to serving a diverse population. Preferred certifications: Certified Parent, Caregiver, and Family Member (CPCF); Youth/Transition‑Age Youth (TAY) Peer Specialization; Intentional Peer Support (IPS); WRAP; Motivational Interviewing. Bilingual (Spanish) is not required but qualifies for a pay differential. Background check and drug screening clearance required. Reliable transportation to Indio site for 7:00 PM shift starts. Work‑Life Balance Four consecutive days off each week (Sunday–Wednesday). No on‑call shifts, no last‑minute schedule changes, no surprise overtime. Reduced commute—travel to site only 3 times per week. Peer‑specific supervision and debriefing to support emotional well‑being.
