DevOps Engineer - Tampa, FL

Job Description Black Cape DevOps Engineer Location: Tampa, FL ONSITE: Ability to go on site up to 3–5 days per week. Most weeks will be onsite 3 days per week, remote 2 days per week. Clearance: Must have an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility preferred. We likely will not contact candidates without at least a Top Secret clearance. Black Cape is seeking mid‑level and senior‑level DevOps Engineers with a minimum of 3 years of experience working on production systems. Candidates should be self‑starters, comfortable learning new technologies, and able to accomplish tasks in the absence of day‑to‑day product and engineering oversight. Responsibilities Operate and maintain a mission‑critical cloud‑based system in multiple customer environments. Coordinate and effectively communicate with government personnel to integrate and utilize their Software Factory. Deploy the latest code and security updates to cloud‑based systems. Make system changes to ensure all configurations work in a clustered deployment environment. Provide recommendations and a pathway on how to scale each component of a given technology, e.g., how to scale processing and storage across a complex technology product. Support the engineering team in benchmarking components of the system. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; ability to obtain Privileged User Access (PUA) on customer systems. Ability to go onsite up to 5 days per week, with majority of weeks at most 3 days onsite. Advanced knowledge and experience with Docker and containerization. Experience deploying to container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, and Docker Swarm. Experience with Python and Bash scripting, Linux command‑line automation. Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, Bamboo or other CI/CD tools. Experience with provisioning tools such as Ansible or SaltStack. Experience operating and maintaining Linux‑based environments, especially RedHat (RHEL). CompTIA Security+ (highly desired or willing to obtain certification). Experience with cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP; preference for AWS (certifications considered extra credit). Experience working in classified environments; awareness of technical limitations within those systems. Strong communication skills and ability to work on small teams. Familiarity with negotiating complex accreditation and security requirements. Strong preference for candidates with demonstrated RMF process experience. Highly Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with streaming data and automation systems such as Kafka, NiFi, RabbitMQ, or similar. Experience with S3‑compliant data stores (AWS S3, Azure Blob, MinIO). Experience with document storage solutions such as Elasticsearch, Mongo. Experience designing highly scalable, fail‑safe, cloud‑native systems with data processing pipelines. Certificates such as Security+, CISSP, AWS certifications.
