Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify. Provides comprehensive medical evaluations for MEPS applicants, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD, and USMEPCOM standards. Reviews medical records, conducts detailed histories and physical exams, interprets diagnostic tests, and identifies disqualifying conditions. Assesses all body systems, determines the need for additional exams, communicates abnormal findings to applicants, and updates medical staff for accurate database documentation. This position requires on-site duties at MEPS locations. Compensation & Benefits Starting Salary Range for Physician: Pay commensurate with experience. Responsibilities Ensures compliance with OSHA and Privacy Act standards, including those set by USMEPCOM, the Department of Defense, and applicable service regulations. Conducts thorough medical record reviews, histories, and physical examinations per Department of Defense standards; evaluates lab results, ensures accurate profiling, and coordinates with consultants and Service waiver authorities. Evaluates diagnostic test results conducted by the MEPS medical department to identify potential disqualifying conditions. Performs comprehensive in‑person medical histories for applicants who have completed the prescreening process and received authorization to proceed. Assesses applicants for injuries, deformities, defects, and disorders across all body systems, including dental, psychiatric, and behavioral, and conducts a standardized orthopedic‑neurological exam. Determines the need for further physical examination of identified problem areas. Directly informs applicants of abnormal findings through personal consultation or written communication. Conveys updates to medical staff for entry into the USMEPCOM‑specific applicant database. Performs other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a recognized U.S. or Canadian medical school, accredited by appropriate accrediting bodies. Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory. At least one year of supervised clinical experience in a hospital or accredited training institution (e.g., internship or residency program). Three years of graduate training in the specialty of the position or equivalent experience and training. Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association; Advanced Life Support does not supersede BLS. Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training within 30 days of onboarding. Ability to conduct shift work before 0600 or after 1800 hours, and occasional Saturdays. Eligibility for background investigation; position subject to a suitability or fitness determination. Must pass the pre‑employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
