About the Position

The unit primarily cares for medical-surgical patients. Travelers may be required to float across different facilities if necessary. The nurse will work three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend and holiday coverage as needed. Responsibilities include the management of respiratory conditions. The patient population may include those with general medical/surgical diagnoses, palliative care, hospice, psychiatric observation, and diabetes. Previous charge nurse experience is preferred. BLS certification is mandatory, and the traveler must pass an EKG exam during onboarding. The nurse will be responsible for the care of patients requiring various interventions, including telemetry monitoring. Familiarity with EPIC charting system is required. Skills needed include BiPAP/CPAP management, wound care, peripheral line care, and IV management. Observation and surgical patients will also be part of the expected workload. The nurse must be able to interpret dysrhythmias and provide isolation precautions. The unit has interdisciplinary support from several services such as physical therapy and pharmacy. The patient age groups will include adults and geriatrics. This is a direct nursing role requiring proficient communication and collaboration with the healthcare team.
