Sr. Liability Claims Adjuster | Bodily InjuryAs a Sr. Liability Claims Adjuster, with a focus on being a litigation specialist for the region, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex bodily injury and liability claims while delivering exceptional service to insureds and claimants. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and litigation management skills to effectively assess exposure, manage claim costs, and achieve fair and timely claim resolutions.This position may be fully remote for qualified candidates or offered in a hybrid format, with three days in the office and two days remote, for those who live within commuting distance of any of our regional offices. Our regional offices are located in Arlington, TX; Bloomington, IN; Boise, ID; Knoxville, TN; and South Sioux City, NE. For candidates who are open to relocating, we offer a comprehensive relocation package to support the transition.What You'll DoInvestigate bodily injury and property damage claims and determine coverage, liability, and exposure.Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves throughout the life of the claim.Gather, analyze, and document claim facts, evidence, medical information, and damages.Develop and execute claim resolution strategies, including settlement negotiations.Manage claim activity and maintain timely file documentation and diary management.Coordinate and supervise independent adjusters and other claim service providers.Work closely with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and internal business partners throughout the claims process.With a focus on being a litigation specialist, you will assign and manage defense counsel on litigated files and participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.Identify subrogation opportunities and coordinate information related to physical damage claims.Report risk trends and exposures to Safety and Underwriting.Maintain required state adjuster licenses and stay current on applicable negligence laws, medical terminology, and industry developments.What Makes You SuccessfulYou are a skilled investigator who can quickly analyze facts, identify key issues, and determine liability exposure.You have strong negotiation skills and can confidently work toward fair and cost-effective claim resolutions.You communicate effectively with insureds, claimants, attorneys, medical providers, and business partners.With the focus on being a litigation specialist, you thrive in handling complex and litigated files while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.You exercise sound judgment and make informed decisions in ambiguous or challenging situations.You are highly organized, maintaining accurate documentation and proactive file management.You build collaborative relationships with defense counsel, independent adjusters, and internal stakeholders.You remain customer-focused while effectively managing risk and claim outcomes.You are self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable responding to urgent claim situations, including occasional travel.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and claims experience.5+ years of liability claims handling experience, including bodily injury claims.Strong knowledge of liability investigations, coverage analysis, claim evaluation, and settlement negotiations.Experience managing complex litigated claims and working with defense counsel.Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.Ability to obtain and maintain required state insurance adjuster licenses.Ability to travel periodically, sometimes on short notice, for claim investigations, mediations, or trials.PreferredCommercial transportation or trucking claims experience.10+ years of liability claims handling experience.Experience handling complex or high-exposure bodily injury claims.Knowledge of negligence laws, medical terminology, and litigation practices.
