Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Instructor of Neurology (Practitioner)

The Division of College Health within the Department of Family Medicine is seeking a Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine (Clinician Educator) to serve as an Assistant Director within the Office for Health Promotion Strategy. The position fits within a Collective Impact framework, which requires working collaboratively with campus and community partners towards our USC Well-being Collective common agenda of strengthening a culture driven by well-being. The Office for Health Promotion Strategy, which serves as the administrative core for the USC Well-being Collective, providing key infrastructure so partners can engage in the health promotion process and take actions that produce communally identified health and well-being outcomes.

This is a highly collaborative role; this person will work closely with the Health Promotion Strategy team to strengthen partner engagement, build capacity, and translate data into compelling narratives to drive action. This also includes support of multiple data collection methods and communication with the partners in the Collective to take action and writing articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

As a faculty member in the Office for Health Promotion Strategy, you will:

• Facilitate collective efforts to create a health-promoting campus at the University of Southern California. Broaden knowledge of well-being as a systems-level outcome of social, economic, and environmental conditions.
• Analyze qualitative and qualitative data to inform health promotion strategies, applying evidence-based theories and frameworks
• Maintain relevant knowledge on evidence-based frameworks, trends in post-secondary education, and at USC specifically, best practices, government legislation, and non-government organization guidelines (e.g. World Health Organization's Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (1986), Okanagan Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges (2015) and the Geneva Charter for Wellbeing (2021).

• Contribute to the strategic and operational plans, and specific initiatives, for the USC Well-being Collective by providing evidence-based expertise and analysis of existing assets or contexts.
• Using available data. identify, plan, and write external and peer-reviewed publications
• Remain current on emerging best/wise practice; recommend outcomes for a publication agenda
• Maintain partnerships through consistent, proactive communication, including with faculty members, departmental administrators, staff members, and students.
• Manage projects, ensuring progression of work towards stated outcomes. Establish scopes of work, timelines, and communicate regularly.
• Maintain working knowledge of the USC context (e.g. academic and institutional plans and priorities, faculties, departments, student services, USC survey data)
• Contribute to process and outcome evaluation and write reports highlighting key findings.
• Craft reports on evidence-based practices and proposed initiatives.
• Engage in regular assessment/quality improvement. Provide recommendations to the Director, Health Promotion Strategy on strategic changes to current initiatives and priorities for publications.
• Respond to requests for information, data and presentations.
• Oversee administration of budget, HR requirements, and hiring and management of professional, student worker and graduate intern staff.
• Provide training on visual learning, infographics, print and electronic presentations and other topics as needed.
  • Participate and contribute to departmental goals, key performance indicators, strategic planning, deliverables.

• Participate in and represent the Department of Family Medicine, Campus Health and USC in community coalitions and citywide and statewide initiatives in support of well-being.

A Master's degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Social Work, Sociology or similar field. A minimum of three years of experience working in higher education, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, or similar setting. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability to think strategically. Excellent writing skills, with knowledge of the process of peer-reviewed professional publication. Demonstrated ability to understand data, extract actionable insight, and communicate key findings in plain language. Effective communication and interpersonal skills that foster collaboration with staff, faculty, students and community members. Demonstrated project management skills; and Flexibility and ability to navigate the complexities of systemic change.

The annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - 95,000.
