Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. The Planned Giving Advisor is responsible for building and managing meaningful relationships with donors to secure planned and deferred charitable gifts, including Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and non-cash gifts, that advance Food For The Poor's long-term mission and financial sustainability. Through strategic donor engagement, thoughtful stewardship, and consultative gift planning, the Advisor helps individuals create lasting philanthropic legacies while aligning their charitable goals with the organization's mission.

Managing an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects, this role develops and executes individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies; facilitates complex planned gift arrangements, DAF giving opportunities, and non-cash gift transactions; and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to integrate legacy giving into Food For The Poor's overall fundraising strategy. The Advisor serves as a trusted resource throughout the planned giving process, delivering exceptional donor service while contributing to the continued growth and success of the Legacy and Gift Planning program.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Manage an assigned portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors through all phases of cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and relationship management.
• Develop and execute individualized donor strategies that align philanthropic goals with Food For The Poor's mission.
• Conduct donor visits, presentations, and ongoing stewardship activities to strengthen donor engagement and secure planned gift commitments.
• Maintain accurate portfolio activity, pipeline management, and donor records within the organization's CRM.
• Achieve established fundraising and donor engagement goals

• Educate donors on charitable gift planning opportunities, including bequests, charitable trusts, gift annuities, retirement assets, donor-advised funds, life insurance, and other planned giving vehicles.
• Prepare customized gift proposals and collaborate with donors' professional advisors to structure and complete planned gifts.
• Support estate administration, gift documentation, and related planned giving processes while ensuring an exceptional donor experience.
• Serve as a trusted resource for donors and their families throughout the charitable planning process.

• Support the growth of Food For The Poor's Legacy and Gift Planning Program through donor engagement, education, and outreach initiatives
• Assist in developing donor communications, educational materials, presentations, and marketing resources that promote legacy giving
• Represent Food For The Poor at donor events, church presentations, seminars, and mission-related activities.
• Promote participation in Legacy Society recognition and stewardship initiatives

• Foster long-term donor relationships through personalized stewardship, impact reporting, and ongoing engagement.
• Identify opportunities to deepen donor relationships and encourage continued philanthropic investment.
• Deliver exceptional donor service that reflects the organization's mission, values, and commitment to stewardship.

• Collaborate with Development, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Legal, and other internal partners to ensure coordinated donor engagement and seamless gift administration.
• Provide planned giving expertise and guidance to fundraising colleagues to identify and maximize legacy giving opportunities.
• Maintain current knowledge of charitable gift planning practices, tax regulations, and industry trends while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, organizational policies, and ethical fundraising standards.
• Exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential donor and financial information.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Law, or a related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Professional certifications such as CFRE, CAP, CFP, JD, or other planned giving credentials are preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planned giving, major gifts, charitable estate planning, wealth management, financial services, or related philanthropic fundraising.
• Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and closing planned gifts and other complex charitable gifts.
• Experience working collaboratively with attorneys, accountants, financial planners, trust officers, and other professional advisors.
• Experience managing donor portfolios and utilizing donor relationship management (CRM) systems.
• Experience working within a Christian, faith-based, or mission-driven nonprofit organization is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of planned giving vehicles, estate planning principles, charitable gift planning strategies, and applicable tax regulations.
• Excellent relationship-building, donor stewardship, and consultative communication skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial and legal concepts in a clear, donor-focused manner.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and commitment to maintaining donor confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and donor relationship management (CRM) systems.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
