Location: Open Door Advocacy Associates headquarters: 20 N 29th St, Billings, MT 59101

Mission Impact: This volunteer opportunity plays a vital role in advancing our mission to walk alongside individuals and families in Billings, Montana, who are overwhelmed by systems, crisis, or circumstance – providing advocacy, mentoring, and resource navigation so that no one has to navigate it alone. Whether you're a first-time volunteer or a seasoned changemaker, you are welcome here and your contribution matters.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to assess needs, identify goals, and develop individualized plans
• Connect clients with community resources, services, and support programs.
• Assist clients in obtaining and organizing required documentation.
• Make referrals to partner agencies and follow up on outcomes.
• Advocate for clients by communicating with community partners and accompanying clients to appointments when appropriate.
• Encourage and support clients as they work toward self-sufficiency and personal goals.
• Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in CharityTracker.

• Commitment to serving individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn CharityTracker.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with staff and following established processes.
• Experience in helping professions, community outreach, advocacy, education, healthcare, ministry, or related fields is helpful but not required.
