Transportation Specialist

The Transportation Specialist is responsible for safely transporting clients to and from the recovery center, medical appointments, court appearances, employment‑related appointments, recovery meetings, and other approved destinations. This position plays a vital role in supporting client engagement, treatment compliance, and overall recovery success by providing reliable, professional, and compassionate transportation services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transport clients safely and professionally to and from the recovery center and other approved locations. Provide transportation to medical appointments, counseling sessions, court dates, employment interviews, recovery meetings, and other scheduled appointments. Maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive environment while interacting with clients. Assist clients with entering and exiting vehicles when needed. Coordinate transportation schedules with staff and ensure clients arrive at appointments on time. Complete transportation logs, mileage records, vehicle inspection reports, and other required documentation. Communicate any client concerns, incidents, or scheduling changes to supervisory staff. Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures. Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after transportation runs. Ensure vehicles remain clean, fueled, and properly maintained. Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established incident‑reporting procedures. Support the recovery center's mission and promote a positive image of the organization. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review. Previous transportation, healthcare, behavioral health, or human services experience preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Knowledge of local roads, navigation systems, and transportation safety practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals in recovery from substance use and mental health disorders. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and punctuality. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, drive, and operate a motor vehicle for extended periods. Ability to assist clients with mobility needs as necessary. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to safely enter and exit vehicles multiple times throughout the day. Work Environment This position involves regular driving in various weather and traffic conditions and frequent interaction with clients receiving substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment services.
