IT Systems Administrator IIThe IT Systems Administrator II is responsible for the design, administration, security, and optimization of the organization's infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, and Microsoft-based environment. This role independently manages assigned systems, provides advanced technical support, leads small to medium infrastructure initiatives, and ensures the reliability, performance, and security of core systems while aligning technology operations with business and compliance requirements. The IT Systems Administrator II supports modern infrastructure initiatives including automation, identity and access management, and AI-enabled technologies, while maintaining strong governance, security controls, and operational excellence across the IT environment.Infrastructure & Systems AdministrationDesign, implement, administer, and maintain enterprise infrastructure including servers, operating systems, and virtualization environmentsManage on-premises and cloud-integrated systems in a hybrid environment, including Microsoft 365 and Azure-based servicesMonitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtimeManage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and business continuityIndependently maintain assigned infrastructure platforms and enterprise services, including lifecycle, capacity, and performance managementMicrosoft & Identity EcosystemAdminister Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDriveManage Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD) including identity lifecycle, group policy, and access controlsImplement and maintain identity and access management best practices including least privilege and role-based accessSupport hybrid identity and authentication models across cloud and on-prem systemsTroubleshoot and resolve advanced identity, authentication, and access-related issuesSecurity, Compliance & Risk ManagementImplement and enforce IT security best practices across infrastructure, systems, and endpointsPerform threat management, vulnerability identification, remediation coordination, and risk mitigation activitiesMonitor, investigate, document, and respond to security events and incidents, including potential or confirmed cybersecurity breaches, unauthorized access, and malicious activity, following established incident response proceduresParticipate in cybersecurity investigations and support containment, recovery, evidence collection, and documentation activitiesSupport compliance with applicable standards and frameworks (e.g., GLBA, NIST, audit requirements)Manage patching, system hardening, endpoint protection, and configuration baselinesMaintain logging, monitoring, and audit readiness across systems and platformsAssist with audit preparation, evidence gathering, and remediation activitiesAI, Automation & Modern TechnologySupport infrastructure and platform readiness for approved AI technologies including Microsoft Copilot and related toolsAssist in enabling secure integration of AI services within the Microsoft and enterprise environmentDevelop and support automation, scripting, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiencySupport system integration, orchestration, and modern infrastructure initiativesIdentify and implement opportunities to automate repetitive administrative and operational processesApplication & Platform SupportAdminister and support enterprise applications and backend systems ensuring integration, performance, and availabilitySupport database systems, maintenance processes, and performance optimizationTroubleshoot complex system, application, and infrastructure issues to maintain operational continuityCoordinate with vendors and business stakeholders to resolve application and system-related issuesProject & Operational ExecutionLead small to medium infrastructure projects, system implementations, upgrades, and migrationsDevelop implementation plans, testing procedures, documentation, and rollback strategies for assigned projectsCoordinate assigned project activities with vendors, business units, and IT team membersParticipate in larger infrastructure initiatives and migrations under the direction of senior IT leadershipMaintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and system configurationsExecute tasks and initiatives as directed by IT leadership aligned to business prioritiesTechnical Guidance & General IT SupportServe as a technical escalation resource for Help Desk staff and other IT team membersProvide technical guidance and knowledge transfer across IT operations as neededParticipate in technology evaluations and provide technical recommendations within established standardsProvide advanced support and guidance across IT operations as neededPerform all other duties and tasks assignedOther duties as assigned.Job RequirementsBroad Knowledge & ExperienceProven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role. Demonstrated experience independently administering enterprise infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, virtualization platforms, and cloud-integrated technologies.Above Average SkillsStrong knowledge of system architecture principles and best practices. Strong troubleshooting, project coordination, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to independently identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues.Demonstrated AbilityExperience with PowerShell scripting and automation. Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments. Familiarity with server administration in Windows and Linux/Unix environments. Experience with Nutanix or similar virtualization technology. Experience with backup, disaster recovery, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and configuration management.
