• Monday through Friday
• Standard hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST
• Maximum 40 hours per week
• Occasional after-hours support as needed

Contract Overview

This position supports the 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW) Commander's Support Staff (CSS) Medical Readiness program at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, testing, calibrating, and ensuring the operational readiness of medical and simulation equipment supporting military medical operations. The role ensures compliance with Department of Defense (DoD), healthcare accreditation, and manufacturer standards while providing technical support to medical personnel.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, installation, inspection, and repair of biomedical and simulation equipment.

The ideal candidate has strong biomedical engineering experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of healthcare regulations and medical equipment lifecycle management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Minimum two (2) years of Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) experience.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating biomedical equipment.
• Knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, hardware, software, and medical device operation.
• Experience interpreting technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and electronic diagrams.
• Experience troubleshooting complex electronic and electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards, including:
  • OSHA
  • FDA
  • NFPA
  • The Joint Commission
  • CAP
  • AAAHC
• Valid U.S. Driver's License.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work.
• Ability to pass a color vision test.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred Qualifications

• Military medical or deployment experience.
• Experience with Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS).
• Experience supporting military treatment facilities or Department of Defense healthcare environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on biomedical and simulation equipment.
• Install, inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair medical equipment.
• Perform equipment testing and safety inspections.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation using DMLSS.
• Evaluate equipment for repair, replacement, or upgrade recommendations.
• Disassemble and replace defective electronic components.
• Train healthcare personnel on proper equipment operation and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DoD, and healthcare safety regulations.
• Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practices.
• Operate government vehicles when required.
• Maintain appropriate PPE and safe work practices.

Security Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must successfully complete a Tier 1 (SF-85) Background Investigation.
• Must comply with Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, OPSEC, and confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to safeguard sensitive government information.

Work Environment

• Monday through Friday - 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM - (40-hour work week)
• Combination of medical facilities, laboratories, warehouses, and maintenance areas
• Indoor and outdoor work environments
• Occasional lifting, climbing, bending, and electrical work required.
