General Liability Adjuster
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Commercial General Liability Claims Adjuster is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of third‑party bodily injury and property damage claims arising under commercial general liability policies. This role requires strong knowledge of policy interpretation, liability analysis, litigation management, and risk transfer, as well as effective communication with insureds, claimants, attorneys, vendors, and clients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: Investigate and manage commercial general liability claims, including premises liability, slip and falls, product liability, construction‑related losses, and contractual liability claims. Analyze policy language, endorsements, exclusions, and limits to determine coverage and draft defensible coverage determinations. Conduct thorough liability investigations, including reviewing incident reports, contracts, and policies; obtaining and analyzing recorded statements; reviewing medical records, photographs, and expert reports; evaluating damages, establishing and managing accurate reserves, and assessing overall claim exposure. Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys within assigned authority levels. Manage litigated claims, including coordination and direction of defense counsel, review of pleadings and discovery, and participation in settlement strategy discussions. Identify and pursue risk transfer opportunities, including tenders to additional insureds, contractual indemnity, and subrogation. Maintain timely and professional communication with insureds, clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders. Prepare clear, concise file documentation, status reports, and large loss reports in compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with state regulations, client service instructions, and quality standards. Participate in audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives as required. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other duties as assigned. Supports the organization's quality program(s). Travels as required.QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Licensing: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. IIA-AIC designation required. Appropriate state adjuster license is required. Experience: Two (2) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Skills & Knowledge: Strong oral and written communication, including presentation skills. PC literate, including Microsoft Office products. Demonstrated commitment to timely reporting. Strong customer service skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Good time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Have the ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reaching/working overhead. Be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds. Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day. Must have continual use of manual dexterity. Auditory/Visual: Hearing, vision and talking. As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is ($88,000 - $122,000 USD annually).
