We are currently seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to join our CSC Echocardiography department. This part-time (0.7 FTE) role will primarily work days, evenings, and on-call. Under general supervision performs work conducting a variety of technical procedures in the application of high frequency diagnostic ultrasound to patients for diagnosis of heart disease. A $10,000 hiring incentive is available for eligible external candidates (current employees, contract/temporary workers, and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).

Responsibilities include performing echocardiograms and managing the imaging system during a transesophageal echocardiogram using state-of-the-art methods and equipment, performing exercise and pharmacological echocardiograms proficiently, reviewing and verifying exam requests to ensure correct exam is ordered on the correct patient, explaining exam procedure to patient and family members, evaluating images and notifying the appropriate Cardiologist as needed, taking appropriate action to address image quality issues, consistently performing quality exams and ensuring that department protocols are followed, meeting ECHO lab education and training protocol requirements to administer contrast imaging agents to patient, determining the need for using imaging contrast on a case-by-case basis, starting IV and administering contrast imaging agent when necessary, using the CVIS (cardiovascular information system), performing measurements and analyzing results of echocardiogram to facilitate physicians interpretation of test results, assisting physicians and residents as required with ECHO procedures, assisting with education and training of nursing and medical staff, residents and cardiology fellows, mentoring and orienting new employees, cleaning, maintaining and troubleshooting imaging equipment, endoscopes, and other equipment, ensuring that exam rooms are orderly and stocked with supplies, participating in quality improvement processes and Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (IAC, formerly ICAEL) accreditation, building and supporting a collaborative team environment, participating in the implementation and performance of safety and quality assurance procedures, attending QA conferences as able, and may participate in research activities.

Qualifications include a two year degree in non-invasive cardiology, experience in Stress Echo, and a license/certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) -OR- Credentialed by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) -OR- Must meet the eligibility requirements to take the ARDMS/CCI examination within 12 months of hire date.
