Maintenance Technician

Maintenance WorkerTo help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Completes work orders and projects in a variety of crafts including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, installation, key and lock, doors and windows, roof repair, etc.Performs skilled trades with diverse materialsTakes a lead role in projects, work orders, and preventive maintenanceRepairs maintenance vehicles, tractors, mowers, and equipment; purchases parts and suppliesUpkeeps the shop areasDrives and operates heavy vehicles and equipment as requiredSafety operates a variety of power and hand toolsMaintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment in good operating conditionEstimates costs, labor, and materials for projectsParticipates in meetings, workshops, and training to exchange informationPrepares written documentation (work orders, invoices, timesheets, etc.) in established deadlinesResponds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve critical issuesPerforms other duties as assignedQualification requirements include:High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Three (3) years of experience preferred.Terms of employment: Two hundred and sixty (260) days.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Support Staff.Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning ability: Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram forms and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Certificates, licenses, registrations: Valid driver's license with good driving record. Three (3) years work experience in related field.Other skills and abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
