Physician Substitute – LPN, RN, Paramedic or EMT‑A (Dallas, GA) Position Summary: Under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Center Licensed Physician(s), the Physician Substitute determines the acceptability of all first‑time and returning donor applicants. The Pharmacist reviews normal donor laboratory tests and refers abnormal results for physician review. The role provides medical oversight in screening, phlebotomy, and plasma processing areas, and works closely with the Medical Director or Licensed Center Physician(s) to make decisions that directly impact donor suitability. Responsibilities Perform new, returning, and annual donor physicals (excluding physical examinations for donors receiving red blood cell immunizations). Administer and explain plasmapheresis informed consent and AIDS bulletins, and assess donor understanding of high‑risk activities. Maintain accurate, legible, and complete donor records in accordance with cGMP. Review normal donor laboratory work within time requirements outlined in the SOPs and refer abnormal laboratory work to the Licensed Center Physician(s). Observe and approve staff training in medically related areas. Ensure donor reviews are executed in accordance with SOPs. Provide immediate care and assessment of all donor reactions. Compliance: Verify adherence to all ADMA Quality policies, standards, and SOPs; ensure timely completion of QA records, HR policies, and EH&S procedures; communicate or escalate any delays or failures to the appropriate parties. Job Limitations May not prescribe immunization orders or evaluate the clinical response to donor immunizations. May not authorize staff to administer drugs from the emergency kit. May not fulfill the Licensed Physician’s responsibilities for: Therapeutic Exchange Plasma RBC Immunization Plasmapheresis of HBsAg reactive donors Plasmapheresis of HIV antibody‑positive donors Disease State Donor Programs Review of abnormal lab results Re‑instatement of deferred donors with abnormal Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) requires Licensed Center Physician approval; the Physician Substitute may only review steps in cooperation with the Licensed Center Physician. Qualifications Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience : None required. Certification : CPR certified or ability to obtain certification. License : Current RN, LPN, or Advanced EMT license in the state where the Donor Center operates. Competencies: Ability to follow cGMP procedures with great attention to detail; work in high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environments; basic computer skills (Word, Excel, GroupWise); demonstrated ability to achieve goals, overcome obstacles, and work well with people from diverse backgrounds; maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with peers and donors.
