Aircraft Quality Inspector

Primary Function The AH-64 Quality Inspector will be responsible for providing full on-site maintenance flight/functional Check Flight Operations to support the US Army Flight Test Directorate (AFTD at Redstone Arsenal, AL). The support will be conducted in accordance with current Army directives, including but not limited to AR 95-1 and AR 95-20. Areas for support include completion of all maintenance test flights on AFTD aircraft, fault isolation and troubleshooting, and management of internal contractor pilot and non-rated crewmember flight records. This is to ensure all aircraft, aircraft component, and shop inspections and tasks performed are compliant with the Yulista Quality Management System (QMS) processes and procedures as well as all applicable or approved technical data. The inspector performs visual and physical evaluations, testing, and control of parts, products, and raw materials to ensure conformity to established specifications and applicable quality standards. The inspector also provides technical assistance when needed to determine the correct course of action to resolve maintenance problems. Essential Duties Inspects all phases of a variety of goods, services, or operations for conformity to established quality, health and safety, and other operational standards by performing ongoing work for compliance with contractual provisions. Ensures all services listed on the performance requirement summary are performed in a satisfactory manner. Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections. Communicates deficiencies to proper personnel and follows up when necessary to ensure that corrections are made. Accurately keys data into databases. Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Effectively communicates with all levels of management and staff, including interactions with other crew members. Performs basic mathematical computations. Accurately and thoroughly documents the results of all inspections. Maintains accurate quality control files. Might be required to perform other additional duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in management, production management, aviation maintenance, professional aeronautics with technical specializations, or aviation quality is preferred. Thorough knowledge of Army rotary-wing and commercial aviation maintenance practices and regulations is highly desired. Verifiable experience applying aircraft maintenance techniques and quality control functions, including automated TAMMS-A. A minimum of two years of experience related to developmental flight testing is preferred. Must possess a level of experience necessary to inspect all aircraft assigned to AFTD. Has graduated from BNOCC (ALC) or equivalent Technical Inspector Course from other services in the Armed Forces. Required Qualifications Minimum of 10 years’ Army Aviation maintenance experience. Must have completed a military aircraft repairer school for any of the following aircraft: AH-64A/D/E. Requires three plus years of Army Aviation maintenance quality control experience. Must have or can have the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance. Requires at least two (2) years of experience related to developmental flight testing. FAA A&P License required. Must have working knowledge of ACN, including all associated historical forms such as 2408-15, 2408-16, 16-1, 2408-17, and DA 2410. Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suite and can learn additional computer skills/software programs.
