Wiring Technician

Position Summary An industrial automation company is seeking a hands-on Wiring Technician to support automotive manufacturing equipment. This role focuses on direct electrical assembly, wiring, and on-site installation rather than supervision. Responsibilities include in-house wiring for control panels, field boxes, and jigs, as well as on-site cable installation, termination, and startup support.

Equipment Covered

• Robotic welding and material handling (matehan) systems
• Welding jigs and automated manufacturing equipment
• Turntables, trunnion tables, and transfer systems

Key Responsibilities

• In-House Assembly: Manage project materials/tools, interpret electrical schematics and control panel drawings, wire jigs, and assemble/wire control panels and field boxes.
• On-Site Installation: Install cable trays, lay and terminate cables within cells, wire robot-associated cabling, and assist with PLC, HMI, I/O, and safety device verification.
• Startup & Troubleshooting: Verify manual and auto operation of cylinders, motors, and robots, isolate and resolve wiring issues, and support production startup and cycle-time adjustments.
• Compliance & Reporting: Follow internal quality standards and on-site safety rules, and report work progress to supervisors and engineers.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of practical industrial/manufacturing wiring experience (or equivalent hands-on capability)
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Demonstrated hands-on experience wiring control panels, field boxes, and jigs
• Expertise in cable termination and connection techniques
• Flexibility for variable travel schedules
• Valid driver's license and legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automotive welding lines, robot cells, and material handling systems
• Background in on-site installation, wiring, and contractor coordination
• Basic knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and servo motors

Work Location & Travel

• Locations: Company facilities and customer sites across the US, Canada, and Mexico (varies by project).
• Travel & Hours: Variable travel frequency; weekend, holiday, night shift, and extended hours may be required during commissioning and startup.
